Metalworks Studios has maintained an unsurpassed level of excellence spanning over three decades. Regarded as one of North America's premiere studios for many years, Metalworks has played host to a veritable who's who of international recording stars, as well as being the key recording component in developing new musical talent. Metalworks is evolving in response to the drastic artistic and technological changes that have impacted the music and sound industries over the last few years,and as in the past, will carry on the tradition of maintaining the cutting edge of recording technologies.

Metalworks continues to reinvent itself by committing not only to change with technology, but also getting back to its roots of recording new developing talent. No matter if you're an indie client needing recording facilities, large complex mixing or dvd post, editing and mastering, we have it all under one roof.

History

Established in 1978, Metalworks Studios was originally the creative workspace for the legendary Canadian supergroup Triumph. From its embryonic stage, Metalworks expanded over a 30+ year time span into a six studio powerhouse, and today ranks as Canada’s consummate world-class studio facility. Metalworks has been recognized as Canada’s “Studio of the Year” for an unprecedented fourteen times at the prestigious CMW Canadian Music Industry Awards. Metalworks has become the undisputed leader in the recording studio business in Canada. It is little wonder that Gold & Platinum record awards line the corridors at Metalworks.

Our senior engineering staff made up of Kevin Dietz (Head Engineer), Wayne Cochrane, Jeff Crake, and freelancers Stu Young, Lenny DeRose, Noah Shebib, Noel Cadastre, Chris Crerar, and Scott Lake are the core of our expertise and dedication to success.

Artists such as Drake, Lil Wayne, Katy Perry, Jonas Brothers, Sade, Prince, Tina Turner, David Bowie, The Cranberries, Ashlee Simpson, D12, Guns and Roses, Silverchair, Bruce Springsteen, N’SYNC and Christina Aguilera all chose to make themselves part of the Metalworks legend. Film stars Catherine Zeta-Jones, Renee Zellweger, Steven Seagal, Richard Gere and Denise Richards to name a few have graced the halls at Metalworks.

Canadian superstars Rush, Sum 41, Feist, K-OS, Sam Roberts, Billy Talent, The Barenaked Ladies, Metric, Johnny Reid, Simple Plan, Tom Cochrane, Triumph, Our Lady Peace, Tea Party, Bachman-Cummings, Anne Murray and Nelly Furtado illustrate the studio’s long-standing relationship with Canadian talent.

It is not only the artists that have contributed to Metalworks’ success. World-renowned international producers such as Bob Clearmountain, David Bottrill, Eddie Kramer, Bob Ezrin, Noah “40″ Shebib, Gavin Brown, Bob Rock, Peter Collins, George Massenburg, “Demo” Castellon, Mike Clink and Rodney Jerkins have also worked at Metalworks, contributing to the studio’s solid commitment to excellence. The rich history of recording great musical talent and pushing the technological envelope will continue on for many years to come.
